AGM and Dinner 2022

Some 24 members attended this year's Annual Dinner and AGM at the Rose & Crown Hotel in Tonbridge.  It was the first time in two years we were able to get together in person, after last year's proceedings via email.  Also present were the mayor of TMBC, Cllr Roger Roud, and his wife.

It was a very enjoyable meal and over coffee our chairman, David Packer, took the chair to conduct the business part of the evening.  Of course there was very little to report, other than an afternoon meeting at the Vauxhall Inn last September, all other planned activities having been cancelled due to Covid restrictions.  Looking forward, the plans for 2022/2023 hope to include most if not all of those activities.

By the same token, the finances had varied very little over the last year.  A sum of £1500 had been donated, shared equally between three food banks in the area.  The Circle received a donation of £150 from the Tonbridge Lions for plants in the Relic garden.  Thanks were given to David and Wendy Balcombe for looking after the garden.

There are currently two vacancies on the committee, that of Chair and also Treasurer.  As there were no nominations for these posts, it was unanimously agreed that the current committee would try and find replacements, whether from the membership or outside, their choice to be ratified at the next AGM.  The current committee was re-elected en bloc.

At the end of business, the secretary Julie Rhodes expressed her and our thanks to David for all he has done and continues to do for the Circle.
