aims to bring together those who are interested in twinning, to encourage people to take part in visits to Heusenstamm and to receive visitors from Germany: to help and advise those who wish to make private visits, and to meet socially.
Tonbridge & Malling has been twinned with Heusenstamm since 1984 and there are established links between many local groups with their opposite number in Heusenstamm, among them the Tonbridge Philharmonic Society, Oast Theatre Club, Old Juddian Rugby Club, Table Tennis Club, and the Sevenoaks & Tonbridge Concert Band.
Annual exchanges are also made by boys from the Judd School and, until recently, by girls from Tonbridge Grammar School. Exchanges have also taken place between the Hayesbrook School and the Realschule.
A link has been established between the Slade Primary School and the Matthias–Claudius–Schule.
Regular visits are made to enjoy music, sports, drama and other joint activities. On such occasions visitors stay in the homes of their hosts, and many enduring friendships have been made in this way.
The twinning link will be unaffected by the UK's decision to leave the EU.
Pupils from Year 10 of the Judd School are in Heusenstamm from 5 to 13 May. Their counterparts in the Adolf-Reichwein-Gymnasium will be welcomed to Tonbridge on 15 June, till the 23rd. To read all about their visit, please click here.
